BCCR Awards

The following awards are presented by the BC Coast Region, in memory of members of our skating community who have passed away.

Barb Stott Memorial Award

This was a new award in 2021, and is presented in memory of Barb Stott who passed away in August 2021. It is awarded annually at the Jingle Blades Competition, to recognize excellence in skating skills, performance and interpretation through strong edges, creative expression and commitment to performance in the STAR 4 category. Awards to be given to one boy and one girl (across all age levels) as selected by a committee of officials.

Barb was a Judge & Evaluator for both Singles and Synchro, and assessed several generations of skaters throughout BC and western Canada. She was a member of the White Rock South Surrey Skating Club for over 30 years and participated as an adult synchro skater, board member and president, administrator and member of founding committee for Jingle Blades competition. Barb was also a BC Coast Region board member and chairman, BC/YT Section board member and staff member, and a volunteer at many national and international skating events.

Originally established by the BC Coast Region Coaches Committee, this is awarded in memory of Scott Roberts, who was tragically killed in a car accident en route to coaching skaters at competition. Scott was an exceptionally dedicated coach, and was known for his commitment to hard work and coaching education. Scott was extremely artistic and he loved skating passionately.

The award is now awarded to skaters in the STAR 3 category at the BC Coast Regional Championship / WinterSkate, to the skater whose performances best exemplify the qualities of intensity, artistry and commitment to the sport attributed to the late Scott Roberts.
