Skater Development

Through a schedule of seminars, workshops and programs, the BC Coast Region is actively involved in providing opportunities for skaters to learn and develop a variety of figure skating skills.

We aim to include all skaters from STAR 1 to Gold and Pre-Juvenile to Pre-Novice levels, although our main focus is most often on skaters in the early stages of their development in the sport. In consultation with BCCR coaches, we strive to bring the best and most relevant skating experience to our skaters, both on and off the ice.

Our first seminar in the Winter Series will focus on skill and performance development as well as movement fundamentals for this early stage of athlete development. The seminar will offer a brief introduction to all 4 disciplines of skating: singles, pairs, dance and synchronized skating, and will include both off Ice and on Ice instruction.

Registration is FULL; please contact us at bccoastregion@gmail.com if you would like to be placed on the waitlist for this event.

Guest Singles Seminars

The Singles Seminar is always evolving, and each year the focus is a little different. Past seminars have focused on understanding and enhancing GOE, performance, technical and skating skills. Guest coaches such as Patrick Chan, Elizabeth Putnam, Elladj Balde and Choreographer Mark Pillay – to name a few - have been invited to provide their expertise to our skaters. Skaters STAR 4 to GOLD and Pre-Juvenile to Pre-Novice are best suited for these seminars.
